A New Era
Nicolás dedicated many years to offering the most to his clients on his special tours. Today, due to circumstances in life, Nicolás is no longer with us. His love, care, conservation of the islands, and his legacy have been passed to Alex and Daniela, who are honored to have been bestowed the opportunity of continuing his excellent work. Their mission is to show their clients about the tremendous beauty of the Galapagos Islands, the unique flora and fauna. Alex and Daniela are natives to the Galapagos and as such they have an innate desire to show the world and their guests just how beautiful the Galapagos islands are.
Alex and Daniela’s journey has been intertwined with that of the founder of the Tesoro Captain Nicolás Schiess, of whom both are longtime friends. Having worked alongside Nico on the Tesoro Sport Fishing Yacht, Alex witnessed firsthand Nico’s unwavering dedication in showcasing Galapagos’ unrivaled diversity. United by a shared passion for nature, Alex and Daniela are blessed to continue Nicolás’ vision, offering unique and educational experiences that highlight responsible fishing and Sea Safari snorkeling tours in the Galápagos Islands.
Growing up in the enchanted Galápagos Islands, Alex and Daniela experienced a childhood immersed in a natural paradise. This unique upbringing instilled in them a deep love and respect for the delicate ecosystems of the Galapagos. Now, as parents to Daphne and Kalani, they are passing on this legacy of conservation to their children and sharing it with visitors from around the globe.
As certified Galapagos Island Naturalist Guides, Alex and Daniela thrive on the opportunity to educate their guests about the importance of conservation and demonstrate how humans and nature can coexist in harmony. The both have extensive toursim experience. Alex has worked as a Scuba Diving Guide in the Galapagos Marine Reserve for over 20 years and Daniela as a Galapagos Naturalist Guide is for over 15 years. Recognizing the potential conflict between tourism, fishing, and conservation, they embarked on a new fishing business venture that embodies their core values, demonstrating that responsible fishing can coexist with a thriving ecosystem.
Understanding that overfishing and unsustainable practices pose a threat to the Galapagos Marine Reserve, Alex and Daniela are committed to:
Sustainable Fishing Practices: Employing methods that minimize impact on the marine environment.
Supporting Local Communities: Working with local fishermen to promote sustainable fishing and providing economic benefits.
Education and Awareness: Educating guests about the importance of marine conservation and responsible fishing practices.
Collaboration: Partnering with the Galapagos National Park Authority to monitor fishing activities and promote compliance with regulations.
By combining their expertise, passion, and commitment to sustainability, Alex, Daniela, and their family are making a positive impact on the Galápagos Islands, ensuring that its natural beauty and unique biodiversity are protected for years to come. They aim to inspire responsible tourism, emphasizing that with proper management and a focus on quality over quantity, humans and nature can thrive in a sustainable balance.
