Daphne Major Island

Description

Daphne Mayor Island is located off of the northern shore of Santa Cruz island, only 15 minutes away from the Itabaca Channel and Baltra Airport. We recommend this trip for those adventurers who prefer shorter navigations. The island offers a spectacular display of seabirds nesting on its cliffs and diverse marine life in the surrounding waters.

The North West side of the island is a perfect place for bird watching.  You will be able to see Nazca Boobies, Noddies, Swallow Tailled Gulls, Lava Gulls, Medium Ground Finches and Frigate Birds; amongst other pelagic birds.

 

Along the steep walls of Daphne Island you will be able to open water snorkel and free dive. Here you will see and interact with a variety of underwater animals including mantas, sea lions, various shark species and large schools of tropical reef fish.

En route we will fish along the Tiburon Arrecho seamount and make a lunch stop to grill your catch at Bahia Borrero, a spectacular white sand beach, known for the high numbers of breeding sea turtles in shallow waters during the months of December to March.
